Obituary:

Florent T. “Diver” Breton, 91, died peacefully Sunday, February 28, 2010, at the NH Veterans Home in Tilton.

 

Born on May 7, 1918 in Barnston, PQ, Canada, Mr. Breton was the son of Akila and Sylvina (Tougas) Breton.  A military man for 20 years, Mr. Breton had lived in Vermont, Germany, and New York City.  He also spent many years in Amesbury, MA, before retiring to NH.

 

A veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War, he served with the US Army, retiring in 1964 after having seen duty in the Military Police Corps, the Signal Corps as a Radio Operator, and in Customs Control. 

 

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, carpentry, and loved listening to all kinds of music.

 

He is survived by a niece, Fleur-Ange “Flo” Mailhot; nephews Ray Breton and his wife Rita, and Joe Breton and his wife Pauline; and loving caregivers, great-nephew Michael Breton and his wife Terry.  At the time of his death, he was surrounded by his friends, the caring and professional staff at the NH Veterans Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations should be made to the NH Veterans Home, 139 Winter Street, Tilton, NH  03276.



Service:

A memorial service with military honors will be held Friday, March 12th at 10 AM at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
